Chasing Vitamin D

Need to catch some rays this winter? I highly recommend checking out Holbox, Mexico.
Gabe and I took a trip for a vitamin D fix and it was magical! I love finding new spots that are off the beaten path.
It requires either a 2.5 hour drive, 30 min ferry, and taxi ride or a 25 min small plane ride after landing in Cancun (direct flights on Alaska), but so so worth it. Once you arrive, it's like another world. The roads are made of sand and no cars on the island. It is only golf carts, bikes, and super walkable. Due to the ground being sustained by mangrove roots, the max height is a 3 story building so there are only boutique hotels. The food was incredible and the sunsets even better!

It isn't just for those looking to relax. Activities include snorkeling (if the weather allows, it is not the best snorkeling spot but we saw dolphins and went to a private beach, the team made us homemade guac and ceviche), kayaking with flamingos, swimming in the bioluminescence waters or with whale sharks (June-Aug), riding bikes, exploring ruins, and stargazing with limited light pollution.
Hotel Suggestion - Villas Flamingos, Ask for Ivan
The hotel is a small boutique hotel with villas scattered around the property. They all have unique benefits and the decoration is phenomenal.
Being that it is further from town and the island is remote, you will see wildlife from cute raccoons, geckos, iguanas, and a variety of birds.
HolboXtreme This company was the first ever tour guides and provided excellent service.

Restaurants
The restaurants at Villas Flamingos are amazing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Here are a few others!
Fancy - LUUMEN - the vibes are definitely on point! The food is delish, especially the dessert.
Sushi - Monono Omakase Bar, the rolls were huge!
Shopping - there are shops all over with cute clothes! My favorite store was this perfume store, Gianeti apothecary. I highly recommend checking it out!!
